Blogger Trouble
Hey, for all those who follow my blog I want to let you know that I might be switching to LiveJournal or Tumblr soon, I'll post a link to it if and when I do. I've been having trouble for the past several months with posting COMMENTS on my blog and other blogs. I've researched about it, but haven't found anything really helpful. But anyways thank you the support my friends, I'll keep this one up for awhile though.

One more song
On more to go along with my last post. Ok I'm adding a few more too...
You can find this song (above) on the Broadway soundtrack for the 'Lion King.'
"Music For The Soul"
I've discovered the phrase "Music for the Soul" has a lot more meaning than I previously thought. I heard someone say recently that they believe music must've been a big part of our life in the pre-existence. That and I read this quote a while back that, "Music is what feelings sound like." I know that music is a huge part of our history as human-kind. And I think that what we can't quite express or comprehend, like the beauty of the universe, is felt deep within us. Our feelings and actions are reflections of our soul or spirit I think. I assume that in the back of our minds we all feel that we are spirits first and foremost...
I thought I'd share some music I've come across lately that might seem a bit like cheesy feel-good songs, but that's what I feel I need right now. ;D
"Have A Little Faith In Me" (Very dear song to me. Originally by John Hiatt, Matt Giraud -below- was a contestant on American Idol a couple years ago.)
Here's one more, I know it's a link, I wasn't able to post the video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqkrNA8r_CE&feature=like-suggest&list=UL

This One's For The Girls
The messages in these songs and videos is pretty self-explanitory. =)
I think it's so important because I know how big a problem this is in our country and world today...Girls trying to fit a certain image, and trying to learn how to appreciate who they are, what they look like etc. I'm a bit of a late bloomer myself. ;)

Ode To Summer
Hey! I have had a crazy week. Some of the highlights were, I think I was unofficialy dumped; I saw Harry Potter 7 pt2 two days before the majority of everyone else!!! =D I broke my hand mountain biking. And I get to teach in relief society for the first time this sunday!
(I am mostly typing this with my left hand, so this entry may be shorter than planned.)
You know that quote "You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you might just get what you need." Vell, I think that is a lesson that I've had to learn this summer. I know summer's not over yet, but I haven't quite gotten what I've wanted, but have learned some valuable lessons.
First of all, I've learned a bit more about Lindsey, me, I have a little bit of a chip on my shoulder, I'm very independant, and I love to listen to Taylor Swift non-stop when I'm sad about a relationship. I've also had my faith confirmed in the power of love, and more specifically of God's love! I've been able to get myself back up and remember the bigger picture, thinking always about the eternal perspective and finding humor and wisdom in my faults and tribulations.
Secondly I've learned that my gut instinct has honest-to-heaven always been right about the people I come in contact with, those I date, and that I really don't like gravely trails for mountain biking! Not to mention what career choices I feel I should make, and probably concerning my confusion as tohether I should serve a mission or not (the latter is still being digested in my gut, waiting to be decided upon...)
Thirdly, it is easy to stick with what one knows or understands best, but change is constant, and eveyone learns something new each day. Therefore it would seem that what we really know how to do best is to change. That and everyone is a master of patience and faith. We are always having to wait for something, therefore believing, or having faith that what we are waiting for will come to pass...
I could go on about religion, my thoughts on relationships and the ending of the Harry Potter Era, but I am too tired right now. I will simply leave you with an encouragement to find what lessons you have, or can learn this summer and write your own Ode To Summer.... =)

Words Of Wisdom
Hey,
I believe it has been awhile since I last posted something, or at least it feels like it's been awhile. I'm still thinking about, and working my way through those big decisions that are looming over me. I'm still taking pictures...and busy with work.
I came across some great quotes recently, of which I'll share with you.
One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am—a reluctant enthusiast...a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards. [Edward Abbey, "Joy, Shipmates, Joy!"]
Here is another great quote, it's one of my favorites.
The most beautiful and most profound experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms - this knowledge, this feeling is at the center of true religiousness.
( Albert Einstein - The Merging of Spirit and Science)
Ahh, I love those great thoughts from those great men! If you read them and did not feel any inspiration or enlightenment of sorts, give 'em another read!... =)
I love this time of year, summer always brings out a lot of emotion from me. I love it for so many reasons; summer rainstorms, the sound of crickets, night hikes, camping, reading books out on my back patio like 'Into The Wild', summer boyfriends...[insert 'Grease' lyrics], and most of all it reminds me of my grandma Lola's house in Willard, roasting hotdogs in her backyard with cousins.
I've also been thinking a lot about the future, some of my goals and dreams seem so distant, others I believe will come about because of my patriarchal blessing. But I've never been able to really comprehend the future, and it's never been something I like to think about very much. Which I guess is good, because it's best to live in the present anyway. I mostly feel lost in confliction between so many things right now. Oy! it's tireing...(I was gonna say agsauhsting, but I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling. How'd I do?) ;)
Hope you enjoyed some of those wise words, and to add some of my own;.....music, exercise, and laughter are some of the best cures for confliction blues! And faith in prayer.

Photo Editing
Have you ever photoshopped one of your pictures, even in the slightest to make the contrast better or brighter? I certainly have, infact I feel like I do that with all of my pictures. Am I to blame it on my small camera (a Cannon PowerShot SD600), or is it really an artistic vision that could not be improved with even the best camera out there? Most "nice" cameras use filters and other built in devises to improve the image right when it's taken. This seems to me that perhaps photo editing really does improve the photo, and some photos need a little lighting adjustment to make it look like what we saw with our own eye, and tried to document.
This blog post was inspired by a couple of artists that said it better, here is the link to the page, some of the comments are wonderful. PLEASE READ! http://meowgli.deviantart.com/journal/poll/2082069/
I thought I'd add a few of my own photos to show the differences from before and after I edited them.

Another point I'd like to make is that I believe that it doesn't matter what kind of equipment one uses, as long as it can capture your vision. Litterally in what you or I see, and figuratively in story or meaning....Btw I'm not saying my work is as good as my vision, I have so many ideas for cool shots, but I often feel like I don't have the time or the equipment to do them. That's why most of my shots in the last couple of years have mostly been macro shots (from my backyard). That is where I think I've become an expert of sorts.
Here are a few other examples of mine of before and after photo editing:

After:
Over-editing ;)
Anyways, I think to conclude this post I'll say, editing can bring an individual's perspective and vision to life. And it does kind of depend on what equipment we use. Good cameras are great, but one still needs the "artistic eye," and small cheaper cameras are also great...if I use photoshop. ;) However I have gotten a lucky shot or two that hasn't "needed" any editing, but like one of the artists said in the link, even Ansel Adams would edit his images a tiny bit in the dark room...
I would also like to say, God is the great artist, and we are lucky to get to capture and document memories and beauty for our own pleasure. Photography is an art and can definetly be fun....and photoshop is fun too....

E-Mail From Oprah
Yeah, you read the title.
Haha, so I wrote Oprah, I'm a little embaressed to say, but I like her!
So here are the e-mails exchanged. =D =D

Dear Oprah,
I am from Ogden, UT. I'm 21 years old, now in college, and have watched your show since my junior year of high school. I hope that you
can feel of my spirit and gratitude for your strong spirit.
Oh did I cry when I watched your show finale yesterday! But I think it was all happy tears because of the love that I felt from you,
and the might of your courage and faith that was emulating.
I've come to realize more recently that love is what spures belief, which is why we practice religion, because it's that
belief that we are all loved by a greater Being (which we are) and that knowledge and peace of mind definetly shines through us. No
doubt I can see that love in you too.
I read Eat,Pray,Love a couple years ago because I heard about it on your show, and loved it! I also kept a gratitude journal and try to
"smile with my gut." Thank you for introducing me to beautiful stories and I look forward to your future of more good examples and
struggles and stories to share with us, and me.
With love from my spirit to your spirit.
Lindsey Harline

Hello friends,
I want you to know, the best gift you could give me are your wonderful words.
I've been sitting in cold, rainy, Chicago drinking Chai Tea.. (and yes splurged on a croissant) reading all your wonderful emails. I am deeply moved.
I also read Mark Nepo's Book of Awakening every morning as a part of my daily spiritual practice.
Lo and behold today's words for May 26th just happened to be
"BEING SAD".
( No coincidences)
The best thing for being sad, replied Merlin, is to learn something T. H. White.
"The idea here is not to divert the sadness, but to give it a context from life other than what is making you sad. Just as a ginger can lose its bitterness when baked in bread, sadness can be leavened by other life. When feeling the sharpness of being sad or hurt, it helps to take new things in. This pours the water of life on the fire of the heart. So when exhausted from expressing all that hurt, listen to music you've never heard of, or ask someone to tell you an old story from before your birth, or take a drive down a road near a ridge you've always meant to look out from. Look with your sad eyes on things new to you that will give you something to do with your sadness. Your sadness is the paint. You must find a canvas."
I hear so many of you saying you're sad to see the show leave.
Instead of sadness, I hope you will channel the energy of hopefulness you received from the show in whatever form it gave to you.
No sadness from me,
I look forward to my NEXT CHAPTER on OWN.
By the way Gayle's show will be on at 4 today on OWN saluting our last day. Stedman and Hugh Jackman are her special guests. Stedman who doesn't like to talk publicly about me; watch Gayle try to break him down and crack that code.
And Sheri Salata my show general talking about the process of "landing this plane".
Thanks for all your support and good wishes. After a visit to my mother. I'm gonna take a break, find some sun, and get some REST.
Don't think I'll be emailing on vaca. But will be in touch when I return.
Blessings to you all.

Time
I've got somethin' tickin' in my brain right now, and it has to do with 'time'. What with all the talk about today being one of those Y2K or 2012 things, people are saying this is gonna be the end of the world. I feel erie talking about it, but I don't believe it.
I want to instead talk about what I know about time, and a lot of what I don't know too....Are you intrigued?
I want to instead talk about what I know about time, and a lot of what I don't know too....Are you intrigued?
So I read an article this morning about a this small culture that lives in the Amazon in Brazil. They have a different way of measuring 'Time' (as we call it), instead they remember events and change their names as they get older to signify different 'times' in their life. Here's a link to the article:
Basically they don't have a word for 'time' like we do, nor do they measure it quite like we do. When I think of time, and the history of our country and world, I see a time line in my head and think about events and people, but then of course, I can't really comprehend the future other than assuming it will be like the past....I liked what the article said about our societies' expression, "I haven't got the time", implying that we only think we don't, but we usually do, it's all about prioritizing.
Back to the article, there was a quote that I liked, "Time is more to do with experience than being inborn in us. The only real biological clock is the ageing of our bodies. All our complex concepts of time are cultural inventions, a kind of technology of the mind."
To think we haven't invented a time machine yet....Though I would agree with movies like 'Back to the Future' that messing with 'time' would be a dangerous thing. But maybe that's just because it's unknown to us. We always fear what we don't understand.
'Time' is certainly something we don't really understand. Though by labeling 'it' and counting the days through out history, that has given us some comfort I think. I'm not sure, however, that measuring time has really taught us anything. We still think of history as in big events and important people, whether on a small scale with our own family's history or on the larger scale with events through out the world, or in space. I think measuring and counting time is just a language that we are familiar with and find comfort in, but we really could live without counting it. Though I'm not saying I'd want to change that, I just want to do more with the time I've got each day. That's probably how the spirit world is though, I would think counting or measuring time with clocks and calendars or pills and hospital bills is only something our society concerns ourselves with. But I do think Heavenly Father has an organized chaos of a plan...

Too Many Pictures!
So the past couple of days I've been taking some more photos of dew and dandylions. I swear, every time I blink I see dew and grass. In the wee hours of dawn this mornin', while still lying in bed, all I could think about was Rebecca Black's song Friday, which was stuck in my head, and dew and dandylions. I couldn't sleep past 5:30, so I got up, waited for the sunrise, then took some more pics. I think I'm going crazy with the dew pictures! And to prove my point I had so many photos that I actually liked, I've decided to post them exclusively on my blog tonight!! =D So here are a bunch of my latest photos: (Whom ever reads this, I encourage you to try clicking on 'em to see them enlarged!)

"I've Seen Sky's Of Blue"...
So this evening I was out drivin' 'round town and happened to see another pretty Ogden sunset with lots of heavenly, sun lit (spelling?) clouds and rain in the distance and fog around the mountains...
Anyway, I also saw a tiny airplane flying through the sunlit (does that look better?) clouds. It was just flying in and out of them. And I often find myself staring at the pretty sunsets more than I should be while I'm driving...jk
But it made me so greatful for such a beautiful sky, and a beautiful Earth. When I look at the sky I have no doubt that there is a God. The mysteries of the universe and skies and all their beauty are incredible. =)
Here's a cool pic I saw online awhile ago;
